Grant and Fiona are retired, live in the country and have been married for a very long time.
When Fiona's memory starts to deteriorate because of Alzheimer, she has to go to a rest home.
She also transfers her affections to another man, a mute patient at the nursing home.
This causes a growing distance between Fiona and Grant.
